To the sea, to the shore

A short drive to one of our favorite beaches, for my husband to try out his wetsuit in the Salish Sea. A freakishly low tide had kicked up silt, so visibility was nil, and his wetsuit–bought for scuba diving in the Caribbean–wasn’t warm enough. Oh, well. There were still lots of critters to see. No starfish, but plenty of hermit crabs, and a clam, a big clam, squirted me in the face.

  1. Oh I so miss the sea – raised on an island, never more than 50 miles from the sea. I guess that’s what I love about Michigan – it’s as close to an island when you live in the middle of America. But no tides, not many waves. You might find us on your doorstep one of these days!
