For years I’ve intended to try a yule log cake, but rolling the sponge always scared me off. A couple years ago “yule stump” cakes came out–decorated to look like what’s left after the yule log is cut off. They’re just layer cakes. Much simpler.
I also made meringue mushrooms, because they’re so stinkin’ cute. I didn’t get a good picture of the whole cake, unfortunately–but here’s a nice pic of the slice. Scratch German chocolate cake with pecan-coconut frosting. It’s pretty rich.
